Apple officially updated the iPad mini last month with an OLED display. For users who prefer a larger device, Apple is expected to introduce three new iPads in early 2027, according to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman.
Apple typically refreshes its iPads on an annual basis. Because the iPad mini was recently refreshed, the remaining models are the base iPad, the iPad Air, and the iPad Pro. All three are larger than the mini, providing buyers with several options.

Expected upgrades for base iPad and iPad Air
Starting with the base model, rumors indicate it will finally gain access to Apple Intelligence. It will reportedly be bumped up to the A19 chipset with 8GB of RAM and sport Apple’s N1 chip and C1X modem. The iPad Air will receive an OLED display upgrade in addition to the usual hardware upgrades.
iPad Pro performance, cooling, and pricing
For users looking for serious productivity on the go, the iPad Pro is rumored to adopt a new Apple Silicon chip. Which specific model it will feature remains unclear. Rumors suggest it will receive either the M6 chip, found in the 2026 Mac mini, or the M7.

The iPad Pro is also rumored to sport a vapor chamber to help handle thermals. This should help over the long run, particularly for intensive tasks that require sustained performance.
There is no word on pricing yet, so whether Apple will keep its prices remains to be seen. Apple has already raised prices across its products.
